Hi Devin - Thanks for the fascinating history of Amphenol. When I first started listening, I thought of the electrical connector manufacturer, AMP (originally Aircraft Marine Products & now branded under TE Conductivity). It turns out AMP Inc. has no affiliation with Amphenol (even though Amphenol did acquire the Matrix Sciences line of military circular connectors from AMP in 1997).

If interested, someday we can talk about a long time connector manufacturing client of mine (i.e. Harting Inc. https://www.harting.com/en-US) that I had before retiring in 2021. They are a large family owned German company with a very interesting history.

Hey Al. Thanks for listening! We're interesting in AMP and Harting. If we can arrange in, all three of us would love to have a conversation to learn more.

Hi Devin - Happy to talk about Harting, who I first set up their initial local P&C (Property & Casualty) business insurance program back in 1988 when Harting of Germany was initially starting Harting USA with zero USA / North American sales. I handled their local P&C + Reverse Flow business insurance until I retired in 2021 when Harting USA had $90million (or so) North American sales (& I believe Harting Germany had over $350 million, or maybe more, in sales worldwide). Very interesting large family owned German business with first class engineering & manufacturing skills.

As far as AMP Inc., I don’t know a whole lot about them except we used their crimpers & connectors when I worked at PCP (Power Conversion Products) making equipment for the telecommunications & the nuclear power industries (pre my career in insurance). Also the German gentleman (Hans-Peter Tillman) who first came to the USA in 1988 for Harting, he was previously a big shot at AMP in Europe (& a close friend of Dietmar Tillman who was Pres/CEO of Harting). Peter was a great guy & definitely one of the best business minded persons that I have ever met.

Let me know if you & your podcast associates would like to discuss in more detail. Thanks
